Supplying Need versus Feeding your Greed

posted in: Milk, Sermons | 0

It is written, And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 He knows what things you have need of before you Ask.  Matthew 6:8  Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him

The “them” Jesus references are hypocrites; For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men.  Read verse 5 of Matthew chapter 6.

Strongs Concordance GS5273, and Vines Expository Dictionary define Hypocrite as “a stage-actor” under an assumed character; one who pretends.

The first Question is, Who is YOUR GOD?

I was driving behind a Rolls Royce SUV with the vanity license place: SLFMADE.  The world like to use the term: Self made.  Am I saying you should not desire luxurious things. Not at all.  It is written, Psalm 37:4  Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. The problem is many ask for things amiss to fulfill the lust of your flesh as written by James 4:3

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it to fulfill the lust of your fleshly pleasures. For all that is in the worldthe lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.1 John 2:16

The second question is,  What is the thing to signify?

Thirdly, To whom is the thing to prove?

Remember Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world [He did not make], and said he would give them to Jesus if only he bowed down and worshipped him.  Notice how Jesus, the Truth, resisted the devil which caused him to flee.  James 4:7

Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’  Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. Matthew 4:8 Matthew 4:9 Matthew 4:10 Matthew 4:11

“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heartwith all your soul, and with all your strength.  “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.Deu 6:5, Deu 10:12

For what shall it profiteth a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul [to eternal damnation]? [Mark 8:36 KJV]

The rich can hardly enter the kingdom of God for they rely upon their riches.

[Psa 49:6-9, 11 NKJV]  Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the multitude of their riches, None [of them] can by any means redeem [his] brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him–  For the redemption of their souls [is] costly, And it shall cease forever–  That he should continue to live eternally, [And] not see the Pit. … Their inner thought [is that] their houses [will last] forever, Their dwelling places to all generations; They call [their] lands after their own names.

[Psa 52:7 NKJV]  “Here is the man [who] did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, [And] strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
[Pro 11:28 NKJV]  He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage.

Remember the rich mans’ reaction when Jesus told him to go and sell all he had, then follow him.  It reads he was saddened.

Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

So Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’  And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.”  So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! [Luke 18:18-24 NKJV]

The Bible does not mention him again doing the works of the LORD.  Personally, I wonder was he that same rich man in hell who asked Abraham for a dip of water to cool his tongue.

[Luke 16:19-26 KJV] 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence.

We in the world, like to hold onto things.  Somehow the world has persuaded us to think that following and worshipping the LORD God means you are not have things.  In Truth, by my own personal faith walk with the Lord, once I left all…, I got better things from the Lord so that HIS praise may continually be in my mouth.

Simplistically speaking, All God wants is the Glory.

Jesus said, in [John 5:30 KJV] I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Neither can You or I of our ownselves; do anything.

Walk in Humility.  Walk in Love.

GOD gives us the power to get wealth and blesses the work of our hands. Deu 8:18

[Deuteronomy 16:15 NKJV] 15 “Seven days you shall keep a sacred feast to the LORD your God in the place which the LORD chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you surely rejoice.

[Deuteronomy 24:19 NKJV] 19 “When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

For it is not by might , nor by power but his Spirit that makes all things.

[Zechariah 4:6-7, 9 KJV] 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This [is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. 7 Who [art] thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel [thou shalt become] a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone [thereof with] shoutings, [crying], Grace, grace unto it. … 9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

“Finish the work set before you.” Thus says the Lord

MY GOD SHALL SUPPLY ALL YOU NEED.
