What does it mean to be sanctified and set apart?

Sanctified by definition is one that is holy and pure.  I Am said, be ye holy as I am holy in Leviticus  20:7  Later Peter gave the reason why in 1 Peter 2:9. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people to be his very own and to proclaim the wonderful deeds of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

If you have been called out of darkness, by confession that Jesus is Lord, and was raised from the dead, then you are adopted as one God's children and are apart of Abraham's seed. You ought not to keep doing, or hanging around what you once did in the world. You are above and not beneath. Seated in heavenly places, not slumming around seeking scraps. <p>               During one of our Saturday Lessons,. the Lord audibly said, SEPARATE because you are not Equal.   Jesus spoke the parable of tares and wheat in Matthew 13:24-30 Both grow together, but there comes a time when the godly wheat of man must be separated from the hard hearted, unteachable, unprofitable, inedible folk surrounding it.  The LORD hath set him that is godly, apart for himself: says David in Psalm 4:3. Sanctified simply means washed and purified from the things of the world. Once you accept Jesus, you are washed in his blood that was shed for remission of your sins. It is then up to you to stop hanging out in the places or with the people you once did who are not following The way of Truth and walking in His divine Light.
